How did Shortleaseland come into being?
We discovered what no one saw and that is how short-term leasing came into being in the Netherlands.
Most businesses are born from plans, market research, and strategies. Shortleaseland isn't. We started with one astute observation:
There was no difference between renting (up to 1 month) and leasing (24 months and longer). The term short-term lease didn't even exist.
Nobody knew about it, nobody offered it. Until we saw that entrepreneurs were stuck and that that was precisely where the solution lay.
It started with the self-employed, the engine of our economy
Freelancers faced the same problems every day:
• No annual figures → no mobility
• Too much paperwork → no time
• Too long lead times → not suitable for projects
• Too little flexibility → hinders growth
• Too slow delivery → missing orders
So we did something no one did:
• Mobility from 1 month
• Directly from stock
• No annual figures required
• Can be cancelled on a monthly basis
• And always assessed by humans
Everything changed for the self-employed. Finally, a solution that adapts to their reality existed, and short-term leasing was born.
SMEs & large corporations — temporary mobility
Once short-term leasing became popular, larger companies also found their way to us. Not because they couldn't get a long-term lease, but because they were looking for something different:
• Mobility for temporary projects
• Rapid deployment for new employees
• Extra capacity during peak periods
• Replacement after damage
• Fleets that had to be operational within 24 hours
Where traditional leasing companies were stuck in processes and waiting times, we said: 'We'll sort it out today.'
This is how our second pillar was born: flexible mobility for SMEs and large corporations — scalable, temporary and immediately deployable.
The core of Shortleaseland – then and now
We saw a gap no one else saw and created what wasn't there: short-term leasing. Flexible, personalized, immediately available, and hassle-free.
That was our strength then, and it remains so today. We move with the flow where others stall. We see opportunities where others see checkboxes. That's the origin of Shortleaseland, and that remains our strength.
